Variety- Netflix has greenlit “Squid Game: The Challenge,” a reality competition series based on the hit 2021 South Korean drama. The news came from Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s head of global TV,  at the Banff World Media Festival on Tuesday. According to Netflix, “Squid Game: The Challenge” will be “the biggest reality competition series ever,” hosting the largest cast and offering the largest lump sum cash prize in reality television history as 456 players compete for $4.56 million.

Contestants will go through a series of games inspired by the original show, plus new additions, which are all intended to test their strategies, alliances and character as others are eliminated around them. Recruitment for the series is currently open to English-language speakers from anywhere in the world.

So let me get this straight. There is going to be a game with a ton of contestants that offers an absolute BOATLOAD of money that seems too good to be true. Where have I heard this before? Oh yeah, that's the literal plot of Squid Game!

I know, I know. You're gonna tell me that there is no chance a company like Netflix would create a reality show that consisted of murdering hundreds of innocent people in unimaginable fashion for entertainment purposes. My rebuttal however is have you seen their stock price this year?

via Google and follow Barstool Finance for all your stock market happenings!

Considering those numbers, I would honestly be shocked if this was actually a normal reality show in a market flooded with them. The only thing better for Netflix's bottom line than bringing back Squid Game for a second season is creating an actual Squid Game in some unknown corner of the world. Don't tell me people won't watch either. I've seen the internet viewer go from watching Bum Fights back in the day to people's heads exploding on Live Leak. A few well planned murder games ain't shit for a world full of people whose brains have been turned to mashed potatoes living in this online digital hellscape.

In fact, I'd go as far to say that Netflix's stock will take an even bigger hit if people turn on this reality show and get people crying in confessionals instead of people being loaded into coffins. And if you are dumb enough to play in this game, you deserve everything coming for you. Spoiler alert, here are the games you will be playing/the ways you will be meeting your maker.
