Patrick Carney Of "The Black Keys" Sat Down With Us For 2 Hours To Talk Joe Rogan, Johnny Depp, Food, Baseball, Their New Album "Dropout Boogie" And Everything Under The Sun

So some people know Dante and I co-host a music podcast with Colin Budny of the band "Foxtrot and the Get Down" and Kenny Carkeet, diamond certified producer and founding member of the band Awolnation. You prolly know the song "Sail", a song that Kenny and his guys wrote in 45 mins while they were stoned out of their skulls.

It's a little pet project we've been doing for a year and a half now and it's picked up a lot of steam over the last 6 months or so. Off the top of my head, we've had the following guests on:

- Duddy B of the Dirty Heads
- Cory Wong of Vulfpeck, among other acts including his solo stuff
- X Ambassadors
- Neon Trees
- Antiflag
- Chris Shifflet of the Foo Fighters
- Marc Roberge
- The Expendables
- Kongos
- The Revivalists
- Isaiah Sharkey
- Chad Stokes from Dispatch
- Andy Frasco
- Matthew Koma
- Bad Suns
- Fitz and the Tantrums
- Andy Grammer
- Incubus

Lots more too. Have Nikki Six on the hook as well. It's really rolling to the point we now have artists and their labels reaching out to us to promote their stuff. That's what happened with Patrick Carney and The Black Keys a few weeks back. Was sitting around skimming back to like July of 2019 in some IG models pictures and I get a notification with this email:

I was like uhhhhhhhhh yes? But I did that thing where I didn't respond for a few mins to not come off as so desperate. Kinda like when you get a text from a chick you think you might have a chance with.

Fast forward to like 5 days later and we're in Nashville interviewing Patrick Carney in person.

It was nothing short of outstanding conversation, too. We talked baseball (Patrick's a huge Cleveland fan) and how game 7 of the 2016 World Series was the worst day of our lives. Talked his favorite burger spots. Making music with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Beefing with Jack White. Getting confronted by Billy Corgan after Patrick made fun of his wardrobe. Chance encounters with a former Chicago mayor:

Just so many good stories, but the best part of them was that they were coming from the most normal dude ever. Just so happens he's a normal dude that lived a rock star lifestyle and is now married to Michelle Branch. Seriously, it looked like he just got off the riding lawn mower cutting the grass. Dad mode fully activated and I mean that in the BEST way possible. Just doesn't give a FUCK.

The Black Keys dropped their new album "Dropout Boogie" a few weeks back and it's that quintessential new aged blues the Black Keys have mastered over the last 20 or so years. It has instantly vaulted to the top of my go-to music for this summer.

It's a good show. If you're a music nut, it's the best show. Kenny and Colin are fantastic. Truly savants in the music world, and Dante knows more about music and music history than anyone not named Bob Fox or maybe Coley at Barstool.

Check it out. Constructive criticism and anything else is more than welcome. Barstool Music could be big and this could/should be the base for a great vertical.
