Early Stoppage In UFC's Main Event? You Be The Judge
Alexander Volkov just got back in the win column and finished Jairzinho Rozenstruik within a single round at the UFC Apex, but the conversation surrounding the fight actually seems mostly focused on Herb Dean's stoppage. Could it have been a little early, or was he saving Rozenstruik's life in there?
Personally, I think Herb probably should've let it go on a bit longer - just because it appeared he stopped it following 3-4 missed shots from Volkov. It looked even worse in slo-mo. Sure, Rozenstruik sure looked to be on his way to getting finished, spitting the mouthguard out and everything, but check out this video of the aftermath....
Doesn't look like a guy who just got "technically knocked out" to me! He looks completely and totally fine - and Volkov almost shoots him a look that says, "Sorry man."
Still though, it's not the worst stoppage of Herb's career, and I'd always rather an early stoppage than a late one for brain damage's sake, so I'll give him a pass.
Awesome day of fights overall, especially for a free early card; most notably, Volkov looked great against Rozenstruik in the main event and Movsar Evloev beat the absolute fuck out of Dan Ige in the co-main event.
