It has been 4,382 days since the last time the Boston Celtics have played a Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Think of how much of your life has changed over those 12 years. For me, I was 23 selling season tickets for the Colorado Rapids. I graduated from ASU with a degree in Marketing/Sports Management in May of 2009 which was easily the fakest major/degree in the history of degrees. Basically, everyone who was too stupid to even think about applying to the WP Carey School Of Business went the Marketing/Sports Management route. The Rapids were the only team that got back to me even though I had never been to Colorado once in my life, so I said fuck it why not. They sell you on the promise that hey if you sell a shit ton of season tickets you can move anywhere in the organization! What a crock of shit that is. Sorry if any stoolie reading this right now is currently living that life, I have nothing but respect for you. Making 100 calls a day trying to get people who went to one soccer game 5 years prior to pay $130 for season tickets isn't easy. Then you realize how little money you're making because even when you do sell packages, your commission was like 13% of that $130….pretax. It's a grind.

I remember when the Celts won the 2008 title while I was in college, not flying back for those games was probably my biggest regret in life. My family has had season tickets for as long as I've been alive. At that time, tickets back to Boston were like $100 bucks on Southwest round trip, but I didn't go. That phone call I got from Papa Greenie after Game 6 with him in the building was both the highest and lowest point of my life. I didn't know if I would ever see this team play in a Finals again and for some reason I didn't go back.

Then 2010 happened. I vowed that if the Celts ever made it back to the Finals, I was flying back to Boston no matter what. They made it, so I flew back. Things didn't work out so hot. I'm still not over seeing that Game 3 loss in person. How does Ray go 0-13 (0-8). Someone tell me how that's possible. Since those Finals, a lot has happened over these last 12 years. I feel like I've lived 5 lifetimes since we've been fortunate enough to see the Celts on this stage. Both myself and the team has gone through many phases, and I think we can all agree it's been A FUCKING LONG 12 years. Too long if you ask me. But that officially ends tonight. These next handful of hours are going to be the longest of our lives, there's no way around it. But after waiting 12 years, we can manage.

Which is why you clicked on this blog. It's time to do absolutely nothing today but watch hype videos and stare at the clock. Maybe refresh Twitter to make sure there aren't any surprises on the injury report. Making the Finals is a big deal and you should cherish this moment. It's not guaranteed and you never know when your next opportunity will come. But you know what's even better? Winning this thing. Not just making it, but finishing the deal and raising that elusive 18th championship banner. That will make this entire wait worth it.

With that said, let's bring on the hype videos

LET'S. FUCKING. GO.

LOVE AND TRUST.

CELTS IN 6.
