Stranger Things Season 4 Has Brought This Banger From The 80's Back And It's Currently #1 On iTunes

ET Canada - A 1980s hit is experiencing an unexpected burst of popularity, thanks to “Stranger Things”.

The first part of the Netflix hit’s fourth season dropped on Friday, May 27, and the first episode featured a scene in which Max (Sadie Sink) plays Kate Bush’s 1985 track “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)”.

As those who’ve binge-watched the new episodes will realize, the song has some significance for the storyline, and becomes increasingly important as the episodes progress.

Thanks to its exposure in the show, viewers have apparently rediscovered the song, nearly 40 years after its original release; as TVLine reports, just two days after the new season’s debut, “Running Up That Hill” has rocketed up the iTunes charts, capturing the No. 1 spot.

While the song enjoyed some popularity in its day — it cracked the top 30 on Billboard’s Hot 100 single chart — it never came close to No. 1.

Meanwhile, the soundtrack on which the song appears is also climbing up the iTunes charts, with the “Stranger Things” season 4 soundtrack currently at No. 6.

First things first. Is/was Kate Bush sneakily a fox?

What's not in question though is this song being a certified burner.

Not to give anything away about Stranger Things Season 4 (it's the scariest one yet, demonic possession shit has always scared the bejeezus out of me, no idea why), but this watching the first episode the other night at 3 in the morning after getting home from work and hearing this song come on I quickly whipped out my phone and hit shazam.

This song has the undoubtedly familiar 80s synths and drums going but at the same time has a nu-wave indie sound of today. I couldn't tell if it was old or new. Which is always a good thing in my opinion. And no, I'm not ashamed to admit I had never heard of it until this weekend, nor that I also use shazam to bookmark good songs I'd otherwise easily forget.

Between the music, movies, economy, sports, and babes, the 80's had to have been the greatest time to be alive.

Stranger Things director/producer is Shawn Levy also loves to see it. 

p.s. - is it just me or is the girl who plays Max on the show, Sadie Sink, began running away from the rest of the kids in terms of acting chops? I'd put heavy money on her becoming big time in the future.
