The Patriots Crushed the Competition with Their Schedule Release Video

You can have your elaborate, big budget, over-produced giggle fest Schedule Release videos. Animation. Songs.  Game show parodies. Splashy special effects. Whatever. Teams overreaching in their attempts to pull off a blockbuster. But I’ll take this any day.

Ernie Adams. A white board. Pink Stripes. This is a masterpiece of minimalist filmmaking. True cinema verite’. The kind of moviemaking on a small budget that made legends out of true auteurs like Bergman, Sergio Leone or Scorcese. Proof that less is more. 

And a reminder that when you’re working with a natural like Adams, you don’t need to do anything but point the camera at him and let him create like the artist he is. Frozen tundra. The Jets will bring it. We’ll have turkey on Thanksgiving. Miami will be cold. Bravissimo.

Going forward I don’t want the Pats to do this any other way. Retire the Best Schedule Relase award, and put this man’s name on the trophy. He’s the Lord Stanley of the white board.
