Awful News For Orioles Fans As John Means Announces He'll Be Undergoing Tommy John And I Am Very Sad

Damnit, this is the news we all thought was coming but it doesn't make it any easier. Orioles' ace John Means will be undergoing Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of this season. This sucks. Only 2 starts for Means, but I thought he looked good so far. I was actually at the game when he was removed after just 50 pitches and you knew something was up. All he said was that he felt something in his forearm and that is never good. We all thought it meant TJ but they didn't seem concerned. They went and got some additional tests and after a few more MRI's it was determined Means would need TJ and is wiped for the season and a chunk of next year. This Orioles rotation surprisingly has been one of the best in baseball so far with some names that non-Orioles fans may not know, but it will be very hard to keep it up this season, especially without the veteran presence that Means brought. Hell of a pitcher but he's also looked at as the seasoned vet. Guys looked up to him and for good reason. Hard not to feel awful for Means who has been through more than any of us will ever know. 

This is a guy who's fought back through everything. Didn't think he'd make the team so he made a Linked In, 2019 AL ROY runner up, turned into an All Star, had to deal with the terribly sad death of his father ,threw a no-hitter, and became a legit top of the rotation pitcher in baseball. No doubt in my mind Means will come back stronger and be the face of a rotation in Baltimore that will have it's young stud's up next year. Awful news but since it happened so early in the season it hopefully gives him a jump start on rehab. A banged up shoulder last year and the surgery this year, tough two years for Means. Can't wait to see him kill this rehab and comeback during next season better and stronger.
