Henry Richard, Brother Of Boston Marathon Bombing Victim Martin, Finished The 126th Marathon Yesterday In His Honor

CBS Boston - Twenty-year-old Henry Richard was emotional as he completed the 2022 Boston Marathon on Monday. His brother, Martin, was eight when he was killed in the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, CBS Boston reports. Martin was the youngest to die.
It was Henry's first Boston Marathon.
Henry's parents and sister Jane were there to meet him with hugs at the finish line. "It meant the world to me that they were here waiting," Henry said.
"It's great to get here finally. It's been years in the making for me so I'm just so happy I could finally be here," Henry said. "I know Martin would have been doing it with me — so happy to finish it, that's all I can think about."
"I did it for both of us, and my sister and the rest of my family," he continued.
Henry said he plans to run the marathon again.
"I love this city and I couldn't be more grateful to them and everything they've done for me," Henry said. "No matter what happens, you've got to keep fighting -- you'll get to where you want to go."
Henry ran with Team MR8, to raise money for the Martin Richard Foundation, which promotes inclusion, kindness, and peace in Martin's legacy

Major respect to Henry Richard and to everybody who ran the Boston Marathon yesterday. I know it's cool to hate on runners around here but I've got nothing but love for them. Especially people like Henry who are out there for a purpose larger than themselves.

Henry was just 10 years old when his brother Martin was fatally wounded by the cowardly bombing attack on Monday, April 15th, 2013 on Boylston street.

Young Martin was only 8.

As usual Barstool stepped up and helped the city, and the victims heal.

As non-OG's will see from the beautiful video Gaz and Dana produced, Dave and Dan also helped manhunt the son of a bitch rotting in jail for the rest of his life.

As sad and tragic as the terrorist attack was, it brought the city together like never before.

Nothing encapsulated the comradery more than when Big Papi infamously told the world that the city of Boston belongs to the people of Boston.

Dave also raised $240,000 for victim Mark Fucarile which you won't see appear in any takedown articles, but which helped change his life.

So props to the entire Richard family, the families of all the victims, and everybody who participated yesterday, (including the hundreds of thousands who show up to cheer the runners on).

p.s. - And props to our guy Chris Nikic who ran the marathon again for the second straight year, and who was honored with one of the most prestigious awards- The Dick Hoyt Award.

The Dick & Rick Hoyt Award is given annually to someone “who exhibits the spirit of Team Hoyt’s legacy.”

Chris continues to amaze.
