The Sad, Lowly Flyers Cried Because Ovi Tried To Score Goals Last Night During The Hockey Game

If you're on the dreadful thing known as "Hockey Twitter", you've been seeing a lot of "has hockey gone soft" posts recently. Suspensions for hits that should only be penalties, penalties for hits that should only be...well, hits. But last night the Flyers took "hockey has gone soft" to a whole new low, and quite frankly, they should be ashamed of themselves. The big bad "Broad Street Bullies" cried real tears on their bench because Alexander Ovechkin played hockey against them last night. That's it. The Flyers were getting their asses kicked and they pouted and played scummy because the Caps didn't sit Ovi on the bench for the final 10 minutes of the 3rd period. Insane.

A few things- hockey isn't like football where you can just bench the starters and have all new units come in. You're not just going to put a guy on the shelf simply because it's a 5 goal game (mighta been a 7 goal game at the time, but who's counting?).

Secondly, if you don't want Ovechkin out there on the PP, how about don't take penalties? Seems like the easiest fix to me.

"Hey this Ovechkin guy is really good at scoring PP goals, how can we stop him from doing that?

"Well, we could take fewer penalties."

"Blasphemous, let's just cry about it instead!"

But the most important aspect of it all- these are the Flyers we're talking about, so it doesn't really matter if the Caps are on the PP or not, because the Flyers play like they're shorthanded regardless.

Oh and by the way, Ovi did score again last night, giving him 46 on the season with 9 games to go.

And the Caps have now won 4 games in a row, with W's over the Bruins, Pens, and Lightning as well. Not a bad little stretch leading into the playoffs where EVERYONE has already counted them out. Those same people said the same shit in 2018 though, so I guess we'll wait and see.
