Gil Brandt Had A Really, Really, Outrageously Bad Take On Dwayne Haskins Death

If you can't listen to the audio, just read the tweet and multiply it by 100, that's how bad it sounds. One of the most outrageous "takes" on a man's death I've ever heard. Gil Brandt blames Haskins leaving school early for dying, among other things. It's not like he slipped up or anything, he talked for a good 2 minutes straight about how Haskins basically had it coming. Extremely off-base and gross enough that even Adam Schefter thinks it's out of line.

Gil then apologized:

I don't know, but I will try to give him the benefit of the doubt. The dude is 90. Guys who are 90 say dumb shit. I'm not excusing it, because he said it so many times it sounded extremely hateful and from a bad place, but when you put a live mic in front of guys who wear diapers, dumb things will be said. I do think once someone told him why what he said was wrong he felt bad. I do believe that he is somewhat sorry. Just a sad day.
