'Fargo', 'Inception' And 8 Other Movies You Should Stream
1. Inception - 92/100 - Netflix
Cobb, a skilled thief who commits corporate espionage by infiltrating the subconscious of his targets is offered a chance to regain his old life as payment for a task considered to be impossible: "inception", the implantation of another person's idea into a target's subconscious.
I shouldn't have to do much pitching for a movie that I hope everyone reading this has seen before. It's one of Nolan's best and features still-incredible special effects that I don't think have been topped in the 12 years since this has been released.
2. Four Brothers - 67/100 - Netflix
Four adopted brothers return to their Detroit hometown when their mother is murdered and vow to exact revenge on the killers.
I must have watched this movie no less than 500 times on TNT and FX growing up. It's not the best movie but the action rocks, the core plot works and I still dig the almost detective-style plot.
3. Starship Troopers - 89/100 - Netflix
Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. Rico's military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as "the Bugs".

4. The Raid - 91/100 - HBO Max
Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Starring Indonesian martial arts sensation Iko Uwais.
There are two truly great things about The Raid, which I consider one of the greatest action movies ever made:
#1. Steady action fighting. Not too much of that shakey cam bullshit. Just steady, brutal fights that sometimes go for insanely long takes and have crazy choreography.
#2. The Cast. Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhain and Cecep Arif Rahman are all extremely good practitioners of silat, an Indonesian martial art. They've all gone on to do great stuff, including the other great Indonesian martial arts movies 'The Night Comes For Us' and 'Headshot'. In the west, Uwais was in 'Snake Eyes', 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and the slightly underrated 'Wu Assassins''. Taslim recently played Sub Zero in 'Mortal Kombat'. Ruhain and Rahman were both in John Wick Chapter 3 as the shinobi that ambush Wick in that mirrrors room. They are authentic! The real deal. They sell the fights in a way you just don't see in a lot of action movies because they know what they are doing.
5. Moon - HBO Max - 91/100
With only three weeks left in his three year contract, Sam Bell is getting anxious to finally return to Earth. He is the only occupant of a Moon-based manufacturing facility along with his computer and assistant, GERTY. When he has an accident however, he wakens to find that he is not alone.
This is a really good, intimate space movie that deserves more eyes. Sam Rockwell crushes what is an extremely layered and difficult role.
6. Army of Darkness - HBO Max - 85/100
Ash is transported back to medieval days, where he is captured by the dreaded Lord Arthur. Aided by the deadly chainsaw that has become his only friend, Ash is sent on a perilous mission to recover the Book of the Dead, a powerful tome that gives its owner the power to summon an army of ghouls.
With Multiverse of Madness coming out soon, why not revisit one of Sam Raimi's most iconic movies? His bromance with Bruce Campbell has made a ton of great work and this cult classic is one of my favorites.
7. Walk Hard - Hulu - 89/100
Following a childhood tragedy, Dewey Cox follows a long and winding road to music stardom. Dewey perseveres through changing musical styles, an addiction to nearly every drug known and bouts of uncontrollable rage.
Without a doubt, Walk Hard is one of the most under-appreciated comedy movies in recent memory. It has held up really well and this scene in-particular always gets a huge laugh out of me.
8. Dune - Hulu - 83/100
Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet's exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity's greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
Watching this at home doesn't hold a candle to the theater experience, but it is still an amazing A/V watch. Great effects, great sound and some incredible shots.
9. Fargo - Prime Video - 98/100
Jerry, a small-town Minnesota car salesman is bursting at the seams with debt… but he's got a plan. He's going to hire two thugs to kidnap his wife in a scheme to collect a hefty ransom from his wealthy father-in-law. It's going to be a snap and nobody's going to get hurt… until people start dying. Enter Police Chief Marge, a coffee-drinking, parka-wearing - and extremely pregnant - investigator who'll stop at nothing to get her man. And if you think her small-time investigative skills will give the crooks a run for their ransom… you betcha!
One of the Coen brother's best movies if you ask me. It blends a ton of genres and does all of them extremely well. Shoutout to Roger Freaky Deakins
10. O Brother, Where Art Thou? - Prime Video - 89/100
In the deep south during the 1930s, three escaped convicts search for hidden treasure while a relentless lawman pursues them. On their journey they come across many comical characters and incredible situations. Based upon Homer's 'Odyssey'.
I have no problem whatsoever recommending back to back Coen Brother movies, especially when they are both that good. Another genre blending movie that does a lot of things extremely well if you ask me.
