Alex Smith Confirms What We've Been Thinking For Years: Dan Snyder's Front Office Clown Show Negatively Impacts The Play On The Field

Richmond - Former Washington quarterback Alex Smith spoke candidly about the challenges of playing for the team during a Wednesday appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show."

Smith was asked what advice he would have for Carson Wentz, the team's newly-acquired quarterback.

"I think you've got to try to eliminate the noise there," he said. "You know, there's a lot of noise, there's a lot of distractions, that entire organization, everything surrounding it.

"It's been flawed the last 20 years. There's a lot of stuff going on there, a lot of distractions. And it makes it difficult to kind of focus in on on the football."

I've talked about this exact thing a lot. How everything starts at the top. How it doesn't matter what coaches they bring in, new personnel, new GMs, nothin'. None of it matters as long as Dan Snyder owns the team. I've long, long said this. And some people agree, and some say it's ridiculous. But now Alex Smith has confirmed it- as long as the clown named Dan Snyder owns the team, the play on the field will be negatively impacted.

Eisen asked if that dysfunction impacted the on-field product.

"I mean, how could it not?" said Smith, who arrived after he was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs, and led Washington to a 6-3 record in 2018 before one of the worst injuries in NFL history sidelined him.

"Just the entire organization, from ownership down, head coaching and GM, it's a lot of, you know, there's been historically a lot of drama there.

"I think that's what great organizations eliminate, and the bad ones have a hard time with. All that noise creeps into the building.

"Yeah, it does. It does affect the product on the field.

THANK YOU ALEX. FINALLY. Finally someone on record saying what I've always assumed but didn't have proof of. The scandals, the cover ups, the politics, all of it. When the owner is in the headlines for objectively terrible reasons, it affects the coaches which affects the players. It all trickles down. It makes everyone lose focus when there's a constant black cloud hanging over the franchise.

And it goes beyond that. When Dan Snyder is involved in the draft process, when he's trying to butt fuck the quarterback, when he's involved in free agency despite saying he's not and he's overruling the GM, it all matters. 

It's interesting, right? The man who owns the team is also the man who is stopping his team from being successful. So when you think about it, if he is interested in the team winning, it's in his own interest to sell them. That' just math.

At the end of the day, Dan Snyder is and always will be a human piece of garbage. I wish nothing but terrible things for him, and one day, ONE DAY, may his reign of terror be over. 

And fuck Goodell too.
