Eric Church Cancelled His Shows This Weekend So That He Can Attend The Final Four. And Fans Are NOT HAPPY.

Country Now - Eric Church’s concert planned for Saturday, April 2 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas has been canceled.

According to a letter sent to his fan club, The Church Choir, the superstar scraped the show to attend a once-in-a-lifetime Final Four game.

A letter was sent to fans who purchased tickets on Church’s behalf reads:

“To the Church Choir,

This Saturday, my family and I are going to stand together to cheer on the Tar Heels as the team has made it to the Final Four.

As a lifelong Caroline basketball fan, I’ve watched Carolina and Duke battle over the year but to have them matchup in the Final Four for the first time in history of the NCAA Tournament is any sports enthusiast’s dream.

This is also the most selfish thing I’ve ever asked the Choir to do: to give up your Saturday night plans with us so that I can have this moment with my family and sports community. However, it’s that same type of passion felt by the people who fill the seats at our concerts that makes us want to be part of a crowd at a game of this significance.

Woody Durham always said, “go where you go and do what you do,” thanks for letting me go here and be with the Tar Heels.”

The letter to fans revealed that “no action is required to obtain a refund.” Refunds will be processed to the original payment method used at the time of purchase.

Yikes man.

I feel for The Chief here. I really do.

But I feel for his fans more.

We just went through two years of hell in terms of not getting to see live music. Or getting to see half-assed live shows with restrictions in place. Cancellations and postponements out the ass. And NOW, when the dust finally seems to be clearing a little, and Eric Church is coming to town, this happens.

And you know these people bought these tickets the second they went on sale 8 months ago and have been counting the days until this show.

But the North Carolina Tar Heels are playing their arch-rivals Duke in the Final Four. First time in history that's ever happened. So you can't blame Tar Heel fanatic Church from wanting to be there to take in the history.

What will make it even sweeter is his guys will be knocking Coach K out a game away from the Championship and stomping on his fairytale ending.

You can't put a price tag on that. That's true fandom baby.

Wonder if we'll see Caleb there?

(Sidebar - I got to see Church play for the first time in my life a couple weeks back at The United Center in Chicago and it was everything it was hyped up to be. He's an amazing performer. Joanna Cotten his backup singer is electric. His show runs 3 hours and he brings it the entire time.)

Go Heels.
