Hyper Masculine Guys Who Think They Have To Hit People In The Face To Demand Respect Are Embarrassing

Will Smith, it's all anyone's talking about today. You quite literally cannot escape it. I'm getting mixed reviews online for having the following thoughts:

I'm not falling for it this time, Twitter. I'm not backing down from my VERY CORRECT stance of "slapping someone on behalf of your significant other, no matter the stage, is embarrassing."

Will Smith is an iconic actor, person, very well respected in the industry. His reaction to a joke from Chris Rock, which was undoubtedly a low blow (I'm not convinced he knew about Jada's condition with alopecia and even if he did, my thoughts stand) was something I cannot imagine in ANY scenario being acceptable.

Will Smith went to the Oscars last night knowing he was going to come out of it with a win for King Richard. He was fantastic, it was well deserved. Why would he then, take this joke from a comedian, who is taking shots at the entire room, ruin his own evening and his own HUGE moment to act so...insane? I've seen enough bitches' boyfriends try to get in fights at bars over dumb shit to know that its JUST NOT COOL OR HOT TO BE FIGHTING ANYONE. I'll go as far as to say if you think it IS hot, or acceptable, YOU are the problem. No one should ever feel like they have to hit someone in the face to prove a point, or to prove their worth.

Now, if this conversation was more "wow, Will really lost it, that's a broken man who lost his temper" - sure. I'm feeling for him after years and years of ridicule over his wife's behavior. A reminder, this is, all because of Jada's behavior. But PRAISE? It's so backwards I can't even put it into words. There are people in this world that need help defending themselves physically, yes. That being said, no woman should feel the need a have a man use physical violence to protect her from words, especially words of a comedian, at the Oscars. Or, at the bar, at a family gathering, in private or in public - it's just not the move in any scenario. We're better than that. Smarter than that, more controlled than that. I'll go as far as to say Jada Pinkett Smith would NEVER do this for Will Smith. I feel strongly that she's turned him into the kind of guy who has to show out and assert his masculinity to prove it to HER, and to anyone he feels may doubt him after all of her indiscretions. Now we're seeing the result of it.

Looks like he's unbothered tho.

This doesn't top "raccoon faced coke head" or "vanilla mayonnaise," but it's close:
