Whoops! Georgia Hoops Team Lost 70-68 In The State Semis After Their Opponent Was Apparently Given 2 Random Points During The Game

[AJC] - Social Circle’s boys team lost to Drew Charter 70-68 in the Class A Public semifinals at Valdosta State. Game video appeared to show Drew Charter getting two extra points in the second quarter. The second alleged extra point gave Drew a 28-11 lead when Drew had scored only 26.

I think for most people who played high school sports, there's a bit of a spot for them still. You remember the good times, especially if you didn't play anything after and just went to college and started working like normal adults. Not saying you should ever live in the past, just that the soft exists. So when I see this story? You guessed it. I despise the powers to be and the refs. They fucked up. This is from Social Circle's coach: 

What are we doing here? There's a simple solution folks. It's you know, fix the error. The game was clearly on video, feel like that's a simple solution. Feel like basically everyone agreed there were 2 points randomly given, that's a simple solution. I will never feel bad for the GHSA or refs for getting blamed. They are to blame. Crazy thing is it's not even the first time this happened! 

It’s the third time in eight years that a GHSA playoff game might’ve had a different outcome were it not for an alleged scoring error. In 2017, Greater Atlanta Christian’s girls lost to Beach 56-47 in overtime. NFHS Network’s broadcast of the game verified that GAC was shorted a point in the third quarter.

A similar incident occurred during the 2015 tournament involving a boys game. Swainsboro, playing at home in the second round, defeated Holy Innocents’ 57-52 in overtime. Video revealed that the scorekeeper awarded Swainsboro a point on a missed free throw with about three minutes left in regulation.

Now I know this might sound controversial, but if it happens once some ideas to fix it should come up. Three times in eight years? That's fucking absurd. I know the other team doesn't feel bad because they are playing for a state title, but someone has to step up. Someone has to say uhh well they didn't score this many points so they didn't win. You know the whole concept of basketball. 

I thought ending your high school career losing the state title by blowing a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter, fouling out and then getting a technical on the way out only to have the state put a new rule in the year after was bad. This is somehow worse. Feel for the kids. The GHSA just found a new enemy.
