The XFL Is Partnering With The NFL To Collaborate On New Rules And Innovations To Make Football Even Better

XFL TO JOIN WITH NFL ON INNOVATION OPPORTUNITIES TO ADVANCE THE GAME OF FOOTBALL

The XFL announced it will collaborate with the NFL on innovation programs to further expand the game of football and create increased opportunities for player development on and off the field.

Learning and innovation around health and player protection will be a principal area of focus, with the XFL working with the NFL on forward-thinking physical and mental fitness programs, studying playing surfaces and equipment, and sharing game trends and data.

“We are extremely pleased to collaborate with the NFL in these important areas,” said Dany Garcia, Co-Owner and Chairwoman of the XFL. “We are bringing forward an XFL that is progressive and forward-thinking when it comes to innovation, leveraging the newest technology to enhance gameday experience. We have an open field for innovative rules to enhance in-game access. Sharing insights and practices between the XFL and NFL will do a tremendous amount of good for the game of football and support the player ecosystem overall.”

There may be additional collaboration in the areas of international football development and scouting and officiating, including testing different game rules for player protection and enhanced overall play, and testing different technologies.

“The XFL has shown us that innovation is one of its core principles. We are hopeful that this relationship will support further development and improvements in the game of football at all levels,” said Troy Vincent Sr., NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations.

The XFL and NFL have announced a partnership that will be a huge benefit now that the USFL has entered the spring football space. This partnership will grant the XFL a little bit of legitimacy to gain an edge on the USFL. The XFL is scheduled to get going again in 2023.

The basis of the NFL and XFL partnership is based on the NFL being allowed to use the XFL as a testing ground for whatever rules they want to put in place. This is a double-edged sword because if the NFL feels like the XFL is going too well they possibly could throw them some sort of curveball rule they want them to test just to tank the product.

This also probably explains why The Rock got that Super Bowl stint.

"Ok last condition of our partnership, I want to give a hype promo before the Super Bowl"

-The Rock (Probably)

I mean it was a great promo that I could see making a great hype video pregame, but doing it live is pretty ballsy. This isn't the WWE where it's all prerecorded. Nevertheless, he pulled it off, some of the internet was weirded out by the whole thing. It was pretty hype in my opinion, and it might be an awesome taste of whats to come in 2023 with the XFL.

Unfortunately, they say there will be no player sharing, which means we won't be seeing any NFL stars competing in the XFL.
