Someone Snuck Into Petco Park And Decided The Outfield Was A Wonderful Place To Do Doughnuts With His Car

Now this is one of the weirder things to see when looking out your window at work. Ryan Carlson works in a building near Petco Park in San Diego and had seen them doing construction on the field and getting it ready for the regular season, but I bet he didn't think he would see this. A driver found their way into Petco Park and decided to go for a joy ride which included doing doughnuts all over the outfield. Ballsy move, I will say. Was this guy driving to work and then saw a gate open and found himself on the field? Decided to skip lunch and went for the doughnuts instead I guess. And how about some urgency from the grounds crew on the field, not that they could really stop him, but act like you're upset. This driver is legit ruining a playing surface and they seem like they don't care at all. One of the videos shows a group of guys walking up the foul line and it was like they didn't even see the car doing doughnuts. It was a good move to have the forklift block the gate out to keep them contained, but it honestly probably kept him in there causing more damage.

Security guards ended up jogging over there and he eventually came to a stop before the workers basically citizens arrested him without incident. Carlson said to the San Diego Union-Tribune that they took him out of the car and sat him down. Kind of surprising because if you know any people on the grounds crew you know how important the field is to them. This could have been a ton of damage to the playing surface if he would have kept going, they're lucky they stopped him when they did. They did end up arresting him and charging him with felony vandalism.

My guess is this guy saw a shot and he took it. How many times will you ever have the chance to do doughnuts on a baseball field? At least he'll have a cool story for some years, he's lucky those grounds crew members didn't beat his ass though. Or maybe it was a protest against the MLB lockout and this is how he was showing his frustration? That is what I'd have told police. He just wanted the chance to be in a ballpark so damn bad he couldn't contain his excitement. He did do a number on the field though, this wasn't a little Mini Cooper he was driving around, this thing left some serious tire marks.
