I Have Some Questions About The Tinder Swindler

So by now I hope everybody has watched The Tinder Swindler on Netflix.

If you haven't, and you need two hours to kill with some WILD, garbage television, put it on your list.

Here's the trailer.

Hubbs did a great blog on it last week asking how in the fucking world is this guy a free man, still living a lavish lifestyle?

If you've seen the doc, you can agree, that's a very fair question.

If you still have not, stop reading this blog, watch it, then come back to this.

Some other fair questions to ask are how the hell is this guy not in a ditch somewhere?

Eddie, Chief, and I sat down and discussed the doc this week, and we did the math.

This mother fucker conned millions of dollars out of dozens and dozens of women over the years.

At some point, given the law of averages, he had to have crossed a girl with a father, brother, brother in law, or guy in the friend zone, who wouldn't think twice about finding this guy and making sure he never saw the light of day again.

And spare me the bullshit that that's what "Peter" was for….

The bigger question I had though, and one that the doc just lightly glossed over, was how the hell did this guy manage to cover his tracks so well?

Simon, or whatever this piece of shit's name was, somehow managed to snag an @lldiamonds.com email address. So when he communicated via email it seemed authentic and legit.

I posed this on twitter and a bunch of tech-savvy gentlemen and ladies informed me that not only is cloning an email address possible, "it's incredibly easy."

Giphy Images.

That is scary as hell to think about.

The next question was how did he manipulate the google search results so that when these women googled him, his "name" and face appeared in articles and pieces that went along with his story?

That can't be that easy or quick to do.

Which leads me to my last question, one I also posed on our Dog Walk episode- do grifters like this guy realize that if they went the straight and narrow path, and did things legally, they would most likely be wildly successful? And not have to worry about outrunning the law? Or is that the real reason they do this shit in the first place? The adrenaline rush or whatever?

Think about it.

This guy is scum of all scumbags. But he's also smart as shit. He also had to work his ass off to not only get this charade up and running, but to keep all these balls in the air. It had to be exhausting.

If he had started his own company, he could have been just as wealthy, living the same quality of life, with half the stress if he did things the right way.

I don't get it.

Also, because this is America 2022, now this guy is going to become a millionaire a legit way…

Pray for us.
