This Reporter Will NOT Rest Until She's Gotten the Scoop on Bill Belichick's New Years Resolutions

By now you've witnessed this and experienced the unavoidable full-body cringe that comes from watching it. Bill Belichick in the foulest of moods, after watching his defense get trucked all afternoon in a have-to-have-it game against a divisional opponent. Everyone with a press pass prepared to dive under their chairs to avoid getting zapped by Force lightning from the Dark Lord of the Sith's fingertips. And this lady who is either a local news lifestyle/consumer reporter or maybe does a column in a suburban newspaper called "Dot's Thoughts" (she looks like a Dottie) or something, choosing the worst possible moment to pull the trigger on the kind of question better suited for Ryan & Kelly or a Jimmy Fallon bit. To the utter dismay of everyone wondering who could be so utterly illiterate when it comes to reading a room.

In the KJR I posted Monday, I speculated whether our girl here works for someone who has a grudge against her and suggested the next time someone is sent into harm's way like this, they fake a heart attack to get out of it. Little did I know Dottie (it is her name now as far as I'm concerned; if it's something else, she should change it) would be that person:

Holy moly is this woman an intrepid journalist. Relentless. Doggedly pursuing the truth wherever it may lead, consequences be damned. She is going to get to the bottom of this Belichick resolution story or she's going to die trying. Most people don't survive their first encounter with Angry Bill. The few that do, rarely put their head in the lion's mouth ever again. But this is one capital J journo who doesn't know the meaning of the word "fear."

We live in a time where trust in the media is at an all time low. Newspaper readership is appears to be heading inexorably toward extinction. Cable news networks seem to be hellbent on driving the country apart. True journalism seems to be putting profit motives ahead of keeping the public informed. And in general, news coverage seems to be in bed with the powerful instead of holding them accountable. But as long as we've got someone with the guts of New Years Resolution Story Dottie willing to stand up and ask the questions no one else has the guts to, there is still hope for the Fourth Estate. I hope her resolution is to keep asking about Bill's resolution until she gets an answer. Even if it takes all of 2022. Keep at it, Queen.
