You Can Watch the College Football Playoff at a Movie Theater Near You This Year
Depending on where you live in the United States, you may be able to watch the College Football Playoff on the big screen this year. ESPN and Cinemark have reached an agreement to air the two CFP semifinals and the national championship in theaters in 28 markets across the country.
I actually love this. We should watch many more things, particularly sporting events, in theaters. I'm definitely not going to watch an important game with a team I care about in a theater, but I'd absolutely sit down in a recliner with a tub of buttered popcorn and a comically large Coca-Cola for a College Football Playoff game or something like that. Hell, this would be much better than pretty much every Super Bowl party I've ever been to.
The next step is to get in with the dine-in theaters. Throw on any relatively meaningful sporting event in a theater where I can be served a meal and I'm there. Don't care what it is.
And with movie theaters kinda going out of style these days, this seems like a perfect way to keep them relevant. I'm all in on watching sports on the silver screen. I'm mostly in on any way to consume more movie theater popcorn. Hopefully this launch does well.
