MLB Teams Have Already Spent More Than $1.1 BILLION Dollars On Free Agents...And Some Of The Big Fish Haven't Even Signed Yet

It's no secret that teams are throwing cash at players to get them signed before the eventual lockout. It's coming, theres nothing we can do about it. So teams are rushing to get guys under contract and paid. With that said, we've had more than $1.1 BILLION DOLLARS committed to free agents so far this offseason. Obviously it's led by the deals to Max Scherzer, Robbie Ray, Kevin Gausman, and Marcus Semien's HUGE deals. Obviously this tweet came before Corey Seager signed his $35 million deal with the Rangers which alone put them over half a billion with their new middle infield. $1.1 BILLION before the $325 million deal. Teams are handing out massive deals like goody bags. And this is no disrespect to Scherzer, Robbie Ray, Corey Seager or any of the other guys but we still have a TON of big fish yet to sign.

Guys like Carlos Correa, Freddie Freeman, Marcus Stroman, Carlos Rodon, Clayton Kershaw, Kris Bryant, Javy Baez, Trevor Story, Nick Castellanos, those are all guys who are going to sign decently sized contracts. The record for most guaranteed cash in one offseason was in 2019-2020 with $2.1 billion when we had the big Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg, and Anthony Rendon signing for biggggg bucks. With the numbers we're seeing that number is going to be smashed. Correa and Bryant alone are going to be over $500 mill, everyone is out here getting PAID.
