AMC May Be Headed For Bankruptcy
After all the popcorn I ate this afternoon! I hadn't been to the movies since pre-pandemic and went for the first time in what feels like forever today to see Dune. But it's more than that, I'm on the record with movie popcorn being my favorite food. I'm a ton of extra butter and salt guy. Also gotta rock a Coke Zero and take a giant sip of it just when the previews are over and they show everyone on screen sipping the Coke (very important).
My town has a small theatre that did some drive in movies over the past year and a half, but they didn't have real movie popcorn so it wasn't the same. Today, I was reunited with my long lost love and I was overjoyed about it:
Currently, I'm a loser that lives in suburbia and has very little social life to speak of thanks to my blood-sucking kids (whom I love dearly). When I used to go to the movies weekly, it only made sense to get an AMC Stubbs card which saves you money on concessions and gets you free refills on popcorn and soda.
Since it had been so long since tasting that sweet and savory fake butter and iodized salt, it only took me about 10-15 minutes after the previews to polish off the first massive popcorn bucket.
I was looking forward to this all week, so I decided to skip lunch today (it was a matinee showing) to save room for my beloved treat. And while I have had a major tummy ache going on four plus hours now, it was all worth it to be reunited with my favorite food. Until next time sweet and salty popcorn. Also, Dune was pretty good. Definitely worth seeing.
