The Tracklist For Adele's Upcoming Album, "30" Has Dropped, and It Features An "Easy On Me" Version With Chris Stapleton

Rolling Stone - The full tracklist for Adele‘s upcoming studio album 30 has started to make the rounds on social media following the Target exclusive edition of the project dropping for preorder. The complete album arrives on Nov. 19 which you can find here.

Rolling Stone has confirmed the veracity of the 15-song tracklist, which features the 12 original tracks from the album in addition to three bonus tracks.

Among them is an alternate rendition of 30 lead single “Easy on Me” featuring Chris Stapleton. The updated version will mark the first official collaboration in Adele’s discography. In a recent interview with Vogue, the singer named Stapleton as the artist she would most like to collaborate with on a duet.

The album tracklist also offers some very Adele song titles, like “I Drink Wine” and “Oh My God.” A few others, like “Strangers by Nature” and “Cry Your Heart Out,” capture the theme and emotion of the album: divorce, babe, divorce.

There hasn't been a build-up to an album release quite like this one for some time. It used to be the norm. An artist and label would announce an album release. The first single would drop. Artist would do radio station after radio station plugging it, hit the late-night circuit teasing it, etc. 

There would be billboards and tv commercials everywhere for it. 

It got drilled into your head.

Nowadays, you can wake up and find out your favorite artist surprise-released an album overnight. 

Album releases coinciding with an announcement the same week aren't that rare. 

There's no build-up. No anticipation. They're here today and gone tomorrow with not much of a shelf life and I don't think it's due to just the material being forgettable. The marketing, or lack of, has an impact on it as well.

That said, Adele dropped her debut single a couple weeks ago to massive applause. 

For me, it was just "meh".

But to make a long story short. I wasn't "wowed" by it. If you had told me it was a b-side from 21 I would have believed it. It sounded like anything else Adele had done up until this point.

But over this past weekend that changed.

I had to drive to Lansing, MI and back and heard it roughly 200 times on the radio during the drive. 

And now, not only is it stuck in my head, but I have a new appreciation for it. 

Her vocals are off the charts. The hook is mesmerizing. The minimalistic piano backing is perfect. 

It is a fantastic song.

And somehow, it's going to get even better. Because Chris Stapleton, Adele's own #1, has recorded a duet version with her.

Chris Stapleton smokes anybody he does a track with. It's not even that he tries to, there's just nobody on his level.

By now Chris Stapleton is no secret. He is a household name. 

But what blows my mind is how little respect the guy still gets from mainstream music fans. 

The country crowd worships him, rightfully so, but the rest of the music world's fans? Not so much.

Case in point, last year when he performed "Starting Over At The CMA's". 

I watched this live (video below), and got goosebumps on top of my goosebumps all over my body. I then tweeted this take that I didn't think was so hot

And got a pretty solid 50/50 response. Half the people agreed wholeheartedly. Half the people called me a clown.

I don't understand how you can listen to this and not be moved, touched, affected, whatever you want to call it- emotionally.

At the end of the day, that's the purpose of music. To move us in one way or another. That's art. And Chris Stapleton is the reigning king of it. 

This duet with Adele is going to be all time. Probably one of the best collabs of all time. We're going to get to hear it at all the awards shows from now until the end of next year and I can't wait.
