The Trailer For The New Michael Bay Gyllenhaal Movie Is INTENSE

Set during one day in Los Angeles, a working-class guy who desperately needs $231,000 for his wife's surgery reaches out to a criminal friend, who talks him into taking part in a $32 million bank heist. The robbery goes wrong when the two shoot an LAPD officer, and they are soon on the run in an ambulance with an EMT and the dying officer as their prisoners

There are a few things that excite me about this movie:

1. The Danish movie that this is based on was extremely well received. I haven't seen it, but it is apparently great suspense with great thrills. 

2. I love this role for Gyllenhaal. Sometimes, the best actors are at their best when they play bad guys. Leo in Django, Cruise in Collateral, Denzel in training Day and more. 

3. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is a star in the making. If you've seen Watchmen, 'Candyman', 'Aquaman' or any of his other projects, you know this. He's got great acting chops and an action figure-esque figure. 

Here are some things that make me nervous:

1. The fact that Hollywood has a sketchy track record at adapting Scandinavian movies. There are a few examples, but 'Downhill', this shitty adaptation of the great movie 'Force Majeure' comes to mind. 

2. Michael Bay. The man is an action movie legend, but look at his track record this decade.

NOT GREAT. These 6 movies have made plenty of money, but none of them have the same juice as 'The Rock', 'Bad Boys', 'Armageddon', or the original 'Transformers'.

3. The seemingly large amount of slo-mo. I like that in doses, and some directors like Bay or Snyder really love it. But I also think it can be a bit much.
