Fernando Tatis Jr. Will Be Skipping Surgery On His Left Shoulder And Will Roll The Dice That It Doesn't Pop Out Again
This is something everyone in baseball was keeping an eye on heading into the offseason, would Fernando Tatis Jr. get the shoulder surgery we heard all about to keep his shoulder from popping out. I think it was kind of assumed he'd be getting it this offseason and would be good to go next season. Well it sounds like he's going to skip the surgery for this offseason and roll the dice. His shoulder injury was a storyline all season, The San Diego Tribune wrote that the shoulder popped out twice in Spring Training, and three times during the regular season. He missed 32 games this season, a majority of them from the shoulder so him gambling on not getting surgery is something.
It's going to keep popping out until it's repaired, it's a matter of time. We saw Tatis Jr. change how he swung the bat because of it, he had to wear a shoulder brace the second half of the season, it's going to be a problem going forward. He's just going to work at it and try to make it stronger and lessen the chance of popping out, it's a risky call. A lot of people in the organization thought surgery would happen, but there isn't anything you can do from that standpoint. You can't force Tatis Jr. to have surgery, it's his call so he's going to just rehab it and work with it. I'd love to see a fully healthy Tatis Jr. for a full season, few players in baseball as electric as he is when he's on the diamond. Lets hope that the shoulder stays intact and we get to see a full 162 or something close to it.
