We Need To Stop Pretending That Live Bands Are Better Than A DJ At Weddings

Let me first address the first social post from Danny Goebbels on the dogwalk account above...the Burrata Gang doesn't waiver. The Burrata Gang doesn't run. The real ones know this is not about soft cheese, or Natasha Beddingfield, or Bands vs DJs...they know it's about staying true to yourself. Giving thoughtful answers that are honest and transparent and letting the chips fall where they may. I could draft a buzzfeed graphic and pander and win every draft if I wanted to. The Burrata Gang knows that. That would be boring and I don't like to manipulate the audience. You guys know me pretty well at this point. I just say things that I believe even though it gets me in trouble sometimes. Quick to apologize when I realize I'm wrong, but this is not one of those time. I am not wrong. Wedding bands stink even when they're great.

I want you guys to hit play on the song below

You listen to that song and you start toe tapping. Your wedding band might be able to nail the instrumentals nearly perfectly. You may even enjoy listening and dancing to it. It won't be Whitney though. That is a once in a lifetime voice that can't be replicated by anyone and certainly can't be replicated by Tina who works as a dental hygenist M-F and plays weddings on the weekend. Same thing goes for Jackson 5, Dion and The Belmonts, Billy Joel, The Isley Bros, and Lou Bega. I'll admit that there is a certain panache to a wedding with a live band. It's cool. It's way fancier than a DJ. It's one of those ideas that is better in theory than in practice. It reminds of how my grandpa used to talk about cars. In retirement he treated himself to a Jaguar sports car of some kind (I am not a car guy so I don't know which) and that thing just never worked the right way so after a couple of years he sold it and got himself an upgrade to a Chevy Impala. Which he bragged was good because the police cars in his town used them. Sure, the Jag was fancier. He got compliments on it. It just wasn't right. Better in theory than in practice. Just like a wedding band. Also...Rico confirmed that live bands can't play Levels so what the fuck are we even talking about here.
