Screen Rant- The Game of Thrones prequel series will feature 17 dragons, according to author George R.R. Martin. HBO's popular television show based on Martin's novel series A Song of Ice and Fire ran for eight seasons from 2011-19 and set viewership records for the network while on the air, with many considering it among the greatest shows of all time. House of the Dragon, a prequel set in the same world, is scheduled to premiere in 2022.

Fuck it, I'm back in! To be honest, I was back in on Thrones once I found out the Turtle Hat Man secured a fresh bag as well as a new excuse to not finish the books he started eons ago with the two guys who smashed the FF button on the most anticipated season of TV in human history being nowhere in sight.

I'm a simple man with simple tastes. So if you promise a pack or flock or whatever you call a group of dragons to be in your new show fucking stuff up in the most advanced form of CGI out there, I am going to be excited. I will also throat punch anybody that says 17 dragons is too many dragons. You can never have enough dragons in a Game of Thrones show just like you can never have enough good running backs in fantasy football.

Look, HBO knows they screwed up by not only not sticking the landing but crashing the entire plane and causing everyone to die in a fiery blaze reminiscent of what happened to King's Landing in the penultimate episode. But there is no doubt in my mind that they are going to be trying to make it up to us by spending through the nose like the parent that forgot to pick up their kid at soccer practice after school until it was dinner time.

Whenever we didn't get enough dragons or direwolves, HBO cried poor while we were stuffing their wallet with money for a movie channel right as the streaming revolution was taking off. They aren't going to be able to do that anymore after burning up every ounce of good will in Season 8. If they want their subs for HBO, HBO MAX, or whatever they call their app in a year from now to be anywhere near it was back in the day, they need to nail this Thrones show.

If it sucks, we can tune out after a week. But if it's good, we will have event television that match playoff sports games and NFL Sundays in terms of excitement. Just writing the word "penultimate" earlier gave me a massive nerd erection that has not wavered one bit since.

So let's all agree to burn every memory of the final season using my least favorite metaphor since the rat was scurrying in front of the State House at the end of The Departed and try our hardest to believe that House Of The Dragon is going to fill the massive void of Must Watch weekly TV that is out there right now.
