Barstool Backstage Episode 1 Featuring Lil Jon

Barstool Backstage is a little project that the super talented Tevo, and Youngstown Bob have been working on with me for the past couple of months. And we're really happy to bring it to light.

With the announcement of live music being allowed again, and the return of concerts, and festivals we saw an opportunity to showcase and feature some really great acts. Due to their prolonged absence, there seems to be a newfound, or refound, sense of appreciation for live music again.

Between our personal contacts, and the reach of Barstool, we were able to line up some really big artists that we got the chance to capture over a handful of shows.

For our very first episode we were lucky enough to land the one and only Lil Jon.

Lil Jon needs no introduction.

The guy is credited with introducing Crunk music to the world, produced or starred on some of the biggest songs of the 2000s (Yeah, Get Low, Snap Yo Fingaz, Shots, Let's Go, and Turn Down For What just to name a few), and is a pop culture icon.

He was gracious enough to grant Eddie and I some of his time a couple of weeks ago back in Cleveland, backstage at FWD Nightclub, before his performance.

In this interview, you'll see we discussed everything from his love of sports, hockey especially, his thoughts on aliens (they exist), and his recent induction into The Smithsonian Institution.

He really couldn't have been more accommodating, or entertaining.

After we talked in the green room, he went on stage and put on a performance that Eddie and his friends are still talking about today. (And not just because of the insane amount of ass-shaking and twerking that occurred) The guy is an electric factory.

If you're trying to catch him live you can see him regularly at Hakassan in Las Vegas where he's a resident

You can check out all of Lil Jon's music, including what is now in The Smithsonian for the rest of time, here

Big thanks to Lil Jon, Last Word, and Skam for their time.

We're looking to make this project big and take it from coast to coast covering shows in Boston, NYC, Vegas, Miami, and LA. So if you manage an artist, dj, or producer, or run a venue and think there's a show that should be featured reach out to me at dante@barstoolsports.com
