Javy Baez Was An Electric Factory On The Basepaths, At The Plate, And In The Field During Last Night's Mets Win

JAVYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! So THAT'S the guy that heartbroken Cubs fans have been telling me to take care of because losing a player that is an absolute pleasure to watch is like poison for the baseball fan's soul (I promise I will love him like he's one of my own children and to be honest, probably love him more than AJ).

Yeah you may get some brutal swings and plays that make you mad along the way. But you simply cannot look past the magic that El Mago brings to the diamond every time he takes the field. The guy has made base running go from a part of the game that Mets fans recoil in horror over while visions of Daniel Murphy's Least Greatest Hits dance in their heads to doing shit that breaks my brain in a good way on a play that the umpires shockingly called right.

Giphy Images.

And while I will always appreciate a player for hitting a game-winning home run then jawing at the opposing fans on his way around the bases, it was the leaping catch that stopped any potential late rally by the Marlins that kept a few extra years on the lives of every Mets fan ready to drop the big C word on da saeson.

Fans are going to #embracedebate about if the Mets did enough at the deadline because that's just what we are wired to do. But you can't deny that the Javy has already played a huuuuuuuge role in both wins the Mets have had since he joined the team. Maybe this team is completely fucked and maybe it's just one last rough patch before our two highest-paid players come back. Either way, there is no guy I'd want leading the Mets on the field during this stretch more than Javy motherfucking Baez.
