Casa Bonita! Casa Bonita!

Hollywood Reporter - Trey Parker and Matt Stone are attempting to become the new owners of Casa Bonita, the beloved Colorado restaurant featured on their show South Park.

“We want to buy Casa Bonita and treat it right. I feel like it was neglected even before the pandemic,” Parker revealed Wednesday to The Hollywood Reporter.

The company that currently owns Casa Bonita, Summit Family Restaurants, filed for Chapter 11 protection in Arizona on April 6. For the moment, a possible sale is in limbo due to ongoing court proceedings, Parker said. Nonetheless, the South Park co-creators are trying to make a deal work.

“We are absolutely trying to buy it,” Parker said. “We are going to do everything we can. We want to make it right and make it amazing.”

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the GREATEST NEWS OF ALL TIME. I am over the moon about. Everyone knows my affinity and love for South Park, the state of Colorado, and the journey I took to Casa Bonita. How I talked about nothing but finally going to Casa Bonita, and when I got there….welll….

It was almost too perfect, like something out of a movie…or episode of South Park. My 17 year dream ended with the doors locked in my face. And that was the perfect ending to the journey.

But now, it has new life. If Matt and Trey buy it and renovate it (I'm told it's a dump), it'll once again be the top destination on my list. I imagine they'll keep the Casa Bonita charm, but also make it a quasi-South Park museum. Mexican food and South Park with a mix of cliff divers, there's nothing better in the world.

The main thing people told me on Twitter before I went was not to eat the food. I had never seen more people in agreement over one thing- the food is WRETCHED. Turns out they are well aware and will be the first thing they change:

“We started talking about the changes we’re going to make — mostly with the food,” Parker said. “We’re going to make really awesome food. I was already thinking about how I was going to make Black Bart’s Cave a little bigger.”

What a dream. I hope this happens. I'll be the first in line for the grand re-opening. Casa Bonita, Casa Bonitaaaaaaa.
