The Hawks' Season Ended Because Kevin Huerter Picked Rich the Kid Over Outkast

Kevin Huerter had been one of the breakout stars of this year's NBA Playoffs. He hit more than a handful of clutch shots for the Atlanta Hawks on their run to the Eastern Conference Finals and really burst onto the national scene on the biggest stage. Which is why it hurt that much worse when he singlehandedly sent the Hawks packing.

Atlanta's season didn't end when the final buzzer of Game 6 sounded and the Milwaukee Bucks had secured a 118-107 win. It ended in the second quarter when this video of Huerter played during a timeout, in which he openly declared to a crowd of Atlantans that he would choose Rich the Kid over Outkast in a rap bracket.

I had to Google who Rich the Kid even was.

And I could almost understand this blunder under different circumstances. Huerter is a 22-year-old kid from New York. I'm sure there are a lot of things about Georgia and the South in general he still has no clue about. But it's not like Outkast is some indie group that nobody outside of Atlanta has heard of. It's fucking Outkast, dude. And you've lived in Atlanta for three years now.

This would be the equivalent of RJ Barrett saying he prefers Ed Sheeran over Billy Joel on the jumbotron at Madison Square Garden. Knicks fans would be burning his jersey in the streets before the game even ended.

Maybe there's just a lack of millennials keeping Outkast alive in pop culture, because this is the second time this week I've been offended by these youngsters not giving Andre 3000 and Big Boi the respect they deserve. First, our interns had no idea who the hell Outkast even was and now this.

You will not be able to convince me the Hawks would not be preparing for a Game 7 right now if this incident hadn't occurred. Damn it, Kevin.
