IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING: A Flying Car In Slovakia Completed The First Ever Flight Between Two Different Cities In 35 Minutes

[Source] - Klein Vision's AirCar flew between Nitra and the capital Bratislava on Monday, according to a press release published Wednesday.

The AirCar Prototype 1 is powered by a 160 horsepower BMW engine, and comes equipped with a fixed propeller. It transforms from aircraft to road vehicle in less than three minutes.

It has now completed more than 40 hours of test flights, according to Klein Vision, including flying at 8,200 feet and reaching a maximum cruising speed of 190 kilometers per hour (118 miles per hour).

Oh hell yeah. It's 2021, this should have been done years ago based on everything we were told in the 90s. Listen, I've changed my tune on these bad boys. I thought this was always terrifying. I wanted no part of flying cars. I don't trust people driving on the road and now I'm supposed to trust idiots in the air too? Well, let me tell you a 11-hour car ride with a kid who is almost 2 years old will change your mind fast. Get my ass in the air and let me fly, literally. Honestly, I need these things to go faster.

It is expected to be able to cruise at 300 kilometers per hour (186 miles per hour) and have a range of 1,000 kilometers (621 miles).

186mph is nice and all but I want to hit 300. Let me get from Cincinnati to the Jersey shore in a couple of hours tops. Gotta find a way for solid cruise control though too. Nothing will top the ability to use one of these with automatic driving so you can slap on some Eric Church, close your eyes and drift off while you don't have to deal with the problems of a real airplane. A little turbulence? Just go back to the road and wake up from your nap.

I need to call my grandparents up and talk about this. We all do. Call anyone who grew up in the 50s and around that time when all they heard was 'when cars can fly.' Well, guess what? That shit is here and it's needed. There are far too many cars on the road these days. Too many shitty drivers. Do you know how livid I get when someone doesn't use a blinker or lets a truck over to the left lane while going under the speed limit. Simple solution now - put your car in the air and fly over them.

At some point they gotta release the details of the inside. That's what matters here too. What sort of aux cord setup do we have? Heated seats? I assume that will get cold in the air in the winter and I like being able to warm my back up for a few minutes. Cup holders? That's important for anyone on a road trip. If they don't have any of that it's trash. But it's here. We're getting closer and closer to being able to fly and finally living up to expectations from the old days. About time.
