Miley Cyrus Covered Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" With The Help Of Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, And Others, And It Is Fucking Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire Flames

CoS- This year marks three decades since Metallica released their self-titled album, remembered as The Black Album, and Miley Cyrus, the reigning queen of rock covers and collabs, isn’t letting the anniversary pass without some acknowledgment.

With the help of quite a few impressive friends — WATT, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Robert Trujillo, and Chad Smith — Miley has honored the original track with a sweeping arrangement that shows off her characteristically killer vocals. The song choice is a perfect setting for her octave-spanning rasp, and when juxtaposed with tender instrumental breaks from Elton John on piano and Yo-Yo Ma on cello, the decades-old track feels new again.

Yesterday I blogged my weekly music roundup/dump, and included this, as well as a few of the other covers off the album, as well as a shit ton of other new music in all genres. If you don't read them you should start, because I'm going to keep writing them until they become "a thing".

Anyway, Miley can do no wrong so this was obviously fuego.

Not only did she lend her vocals to this record, but she recruited the Rocket Man, (not Carrabis, Elton John)

So for all you haters that want to claim Miley ruined such an iconic song pump your brakes. If it's good enough for Robert Trujillo then it should be good enough for you.

"I mean, having Elton John and Metallica and me … I love when ingredients don't quite fit," she said during a Capital FM interview in January about how the concept might not make sense to fans. "Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together, and you gotta have someone like [the song's producer Andrew] Watt that will take that risk."

In even better news, Miley is recording an entire album of Metallica covers. There's no release date as of yet but she has the full support of the band.

And speaking of Metallica, they will celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Black Album with a reissue of the wildly successful 1991 project, as well as a companion set titled The Metallica Blacklist, which will be packed with covers by major recording artists from all genres and generations. Cyrus is among the 53 musicians included in the covers set.
