Zach Plesac Fractured His Thumb 'Aggressively Ripping Off His Shirt'
The Indians have lost a member of their starting rotation, as Zach Plesac suffered a fracture in his right thumb. Nobody in an organization is ever happy to lose a starter to the IL, but I imagine the front office and fans in Cleveland are a little more upset when they found out why Plesac is headed to the shelf.
Nothing like a good, old-fashioned baseball injury. Last week, it was Huascar Ynoa of the Braves who broke his hand punching a bench after a bad outing and now we have your classic fractured finger aggressively ripping off a shirt. I'm currently going through the mechanics of ripping off a button-down jersey in my head and I don't even understand how this would happen. He would have to have been pulling his shirt back to front for it to get caught on a chair, which is just going way out of your way to tear something in anger.
I wish the Indians had a D'Angelo Russell on the squad with the balls to whip out a cell phone and film this ridiculous outburst. Injuries of this level of incredulousness rise to a level of public interest that they should be required to be shared.
Hopefully Plesac heals up soon and the Indians get him some breakaway jerseys for his next bad outing.
