My Warzone Account With 1150+ Hours Is Finally Back! Here's The Story Of How I Got It Back

I don't mean to steal any of Dana Beers' thunder, BUT I AM BACK.

If you need any backstory, checkout this blog below.

The quick version of the story is that my Call of Duty Warzone account got hacked out of nowhere. My account had over 48 DAYS 7 Hours played with over 550 Wins and 34,000+ Kills. This account quite literally got me through quarantine. So take this as a sign, if you do not have two factor authentication on your Call of Duty account, enabled it NOW. The best way to do this is through this link.

In the past (and still today) we've seen Warzone have an enormous problem with in-game hackers. Lately, it seems like there's been some massive data breach within Call of Duty because accounts are getting hacked left and right. My account was fully hacked where the in-game name (my Activision ID) and my account email were both changed. Therefore, my account appeared to have never existed with my usual email.

Immediately I Googled "My Warzone account got hacked" and thought my life was over. Alright, it wasn't that dramatic, but it put a knot right in my stomach.

If your account gets hacked, follow these steps in this ink - https://support.activision.com/account-recovery

It says to wait 10 business days and to Activision's credit, on the 10th business day I received the email that my account was recovered. I was lucky in the sense that I knew the exact date the account got hacked and I also knew the Activision ID that it was changed to (shoutout Statts).

I included all of this information in my initial account recovery request. Obviously, the more accurate information you can provide, the better. To put some icing on the cake, I additionally filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (these get forwarded to Activision). Now I don't know if the BBB request helped, but I do have my account back now and that's all that matters.

Life With A New Account

Life with a brand new account was amazing at first. I had the easiest lobbies of all time and got my KD above a 16…that's right, above a 16. I was even able to drop this 30 bomb with a random M4/MP5 Loadout.

After about two days of shredding lobbies, I was then put right back into my normal lobbies (very high skill) and it wasn't an enjoyable experience. Playing in high skill lobbies with non-ranked up, non-meta weapons is a recipe for a disaster.

I never cared about losing the stats on my original Call of Duty account, what I really cared about was losing all the progress in ranking up weapons. People forget how long each weapon takes to rank up and adding to this topic, people forget certain guns like the Amax and Mac-10, you need to complete challenges to even unlock the weapon.

Overall, losing the guns were an absolute nightmare and I don't wish that on my worst enemy. Even though playing on easy lobbies was fun for the first two nights, this entire experienced sucked. It made streaming each night feel like a marathon. But now, WE ARE BACK BABY.

For my gamers out there, please take this as a sign to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account. Protect yourself to lower the risk of this happening to you.
