Bartolo Colon Got The Opening Day Start In Liga Mexicana de Beisbol And All Is Right With The World

Big Sexy is back on a pitching mound near you! Well, not near you but down in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol! He got the Opening Day start for the Acereros de Monclova and he wasn't that bad! 5 innings pitched, 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 being earned, 3 walks, a K, and a HBP but he got the win! The Acereros de Monclova pulled out the win, 9-3 thanks to Colon and his not too shabby Opening Day start. He didn't blow them away with his stuff, but he had just enough to keep his team in it. Isn't a flame thrower anymore, but still has the stuff to get you out. I had no clue he was still pitching so this was a pleasant little surprise, but he just loves baseball. You can't keep a guy like this off the mound. Pretty funny he's playing on a team with Erick Aybar, Addison Russell, and Danny Espinosa too.

I'll say this too, he doesn't look small. We all know he has been a bigger guy but I think he's eating well down there because he looks plummmmmp. But as Lance Lynn taught us, mass = gas so I think that is what he's going for. Hard to blame him. It's nice to see he is back in playing shape.

He can still get a mean ground ball double play if needed! Pitchers best friend baby.

Here's the home run he gave up but lets not focus on that, let's focus on the MASSIVE wall of ads out there. Good lord. Everything is bigger in that league, Bartolo, the ads, the walls, everything. That is a serious wall out there. Lets give credit to the hitter though, Bartolo made a good pitch and it just got hit. I also love the little hop Bartolo did once it got hit, he knew it was gone.

Again this was a wonderful little surprise to stumble upon tonight and now I know which team I'll be following in the LMB! Hope we get a nice 30 start season from Bartolo, maybe the Orioles can kick the tires on him. Bartolo on the bump in the LMB is going to be must see TV. I also hope both of his families were able to make it out there to watch him today, they all deserve it.
