Paul McCartney Documentary Series (Featuring Rick Rubin) To Hit Hulu On July 16th

Deadline- Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin’s documentary series examining the former Beatles’ musical history has landed at Hulu.

Six-part series McCartney 3,2,1 will launch on the streamer on July 16. Deadline first broke the news that McCartney and Rubin were working together on a doc series in December.

In the series, McCartney sits down for a rare in-depth one-on-one with music producer Rubin to discuss his groundbreaking work with The Beatles, the 1970s arena rock of Wings, and his 50-plus years as a solo artist. The intimate conversation will cover songwriting, influences and personal relationships that informed the iconic songs.

Derek Jeter ain't the only one gettin a six-part documentary announcement in this week! Sir Paul McCartney has something to say about that!

We don't know much about 'McCartney 3,2,1' at the moment (other than what was embedded in that link above), but it appears to just be a complete career retrospective of the former Beatle's life and career through music, as led by Rick Rubin. The filming marked the first time the original Beatles masters have EVER left Abbey Road, and the President of Hulu Originals was quoted saying, "To be an observer as Paul and Rick Rubin deconstruct how some of the biggest hits in music history came to be is truly enlightening. It is an honor that Paul chose to return to Hulu to share this one-of-a-kind series.”, which is super exciting.

I don't doubt Rick Rubin will ask all the right questions to get the best stories and tidbits possible outta Paul, either, considering he's probably heard just about every Beatles story/tidbit there is over the years and might know more about McCartney than McCartney himself at this point.

Oh, and don't forget - Peter Jackson still has a Beatles doc on the making of 'Get Back' project - later repurposed/retitled as 'Let It Be' - the final album ever put out by the group....

It's a damn great year to be a Beatles fan.

P.S. If you didn't check out McCartney III last December, I'd highly recommend it. McCartney's still got a lot left in the tank at 78 years old. I would LOVE to see him live as soon as possible....
