Noel Gallagher Actually Gave Obi-Wan Kenobi His First Lightsaber Lessons

ScreenRant- On the set of the upcoming Star Wars series, McGregor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss another upcoming series, Netflix's Halston, but the conversation understandably wandered into the highly-anticipated Disney+ series.

Kimmel was particularly curious about Oasis lead singer Noel Gallagher claiming that he gave McGregor his first lightsaber training in 1997. McGregor confirmed the story is true and a lightsaber battle did happen in Gallagher's garden, but he doesn't remember any instruction or lessons being given.

"It was just more of a battle in the garden," McGregor says. When asked who won, the Obi-Wan actor replied, "I'd be surprised if either of us could remember that."

I understand that this story/headline sounds like a Mad Libs directly outta my brain, but I promise you - it's real, and it's pretty hilarious too.

As the story goes, Noel Gallagher and Ewan McGregor drunkenly engaged in a lightsaber duel during the wee hours of the morning at Noel's 30th birthday party back in 1997, just after Ewan got the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi in 'Star Wars: The Phantom Menace' - and apparently, Noel has gone around telling everyone he gave Obi-Wan his first lightsaber lessons ever since.

Hilarious, and a very Noel thing to do! Guy is lowkey one of the funniest storytellers alive....

It doesn't surprise me that these guys hung in the same circles back in the 90s, either - Oasis were known to roll with quite the clique of celebs, including Johnny Depp, who even played guitar on the War Child version of their track, 'Fade Away'....

I would definitely ask Noel/Liam about their Star Wars fandom if I ever got the chance to interview either of them. I don't know if they just grew up with it or what, but I think they're both still fans!

Noel took his family to the premiere for 'The Force Awakens' and appeared in a Star Wars-themed World Cup advert with Ian Brown a few years back….

….and Liam is constantly referring to himself as a Jedi, even singin it with swagger on the title track to his latest solo album, 'Why Me? Why Not.'….

….so I'd love to know what the Gallaghers have to say about the saga.

They know a thing or two about familial drama, after all.
