UPDATE: The Guy Whose Tiger Escaped His House In Texas Was Apparently Charged With Murder Earlier This Year And Is Currently On The Run...WITH The Tiger

So I blogged this story earlier today and thought it was going to be a one-off. I figured it'd do decently well in pageviews, I'd move on to the next topic, and that'd be the end of it. Well boy oh boy was I wrong...

From ABC News...

During a news conference Monday afternoon, Houston Police Commander Ron Borza said the tiger's owner, whose name was not immediately released, had been charged with murder in November in Fort Bend County, Texas, and is free on $250,000 bail.

"My main concern right now is focusing on him and finding the tiger because what I don't want him to do is to harm the tiger," Borza said. Senties said 911 calls began pouring in at about 8 p.m. Sunday from citizens reporting the strange sighting.

"Witnesses claimed they were driving by the residence and they see what they describe as a Bengal tiger sitting on the front lawn," Senties said.

Video taken by Torres and other stunned neighbors showed the apparent owner, described by Senties as a 28-year-old Hispanic man, come out of the Ivy Wall Drive house, grab the tiger by its collar and escort it back into the home.

"The owner of the tiger then takes the tiger ... puts it inside his white Jeep Cherokee, gets in the car and he flees," Senties said. "Our responding units see the vehicle fleeing and they try to initiate a vehicle pursuit but they lose sight of the vehicle."

Borza said police are hoping to charge the owner with evading police by the end of Monday. He said the man's name will be released when charges are filed.

Murder?? Murder?!?! He was arrested for murder and is now on the run because his PET TIGER got him caught? Is this real life? Should I be concerned? Here's the original video for those of you who haven't seen it...

I can't imagine he's going to be on the run for very long, but still. He's got to be furious he got caught in the first place. He probably didn't haven't the paper work for the tiger which is why he decided to take off- becasue if he got caught they were going to lock his (allegedly) murdering-ass up. Apparently he also had monkey's in the house, which neighbors saw earlier in the week, but those are legal as long as they're under thirty pounds. The whole story is next level bizarre. The police chief has since warned the public to "be on the lookout" for both the guy and the tiger so we'll see what happens. More on this later. Take it away, Joe!
