Emma Thompson Holding Her Shoes And A Martini While Announcing An Award At The Golden Globes In 2014 Will Always Be The Best Award Show Moment

First of all, I had to look everywhere to find that clip on some jank website. It doesn't have its own YouTube video which makes me think Emma tried to have it scrubbed from the internet. Nevertheless, we prevail.

The Oscars last night where all in all, a snooze. There were a few cute moments, but after botching best picture, best actress AND best actor I'm ready to say it sucked. Some people may argue that Nomadland, Frances McDormand and Anthony Hopkins deserved their awards, and those people would be wrong.

To be fair, the Oscars are always kind of boring. It's the "serious" award show. I personally love the pomp and circumstance of it all, but it isn't generally funny or good to those who don't care about the awards/movies. The BEST award show is still the Golden Globes. The drunk award show. Everyone just drowns in alcohol for some reason, and every speech, interaction, anything that happens turns into some kind of meme within 15 minutes. Everything's funny when you're drunk. The funniest, though, will always be Emma Thompson giving the award for Best Screenplay in 2014.

Giphy Images.

Hysterical. So dry and British. Those are my kind of people. Who walk around talking about their general misery even when they are hugely famous and on stage presenting awards to their colleagues, an earned privilege. It doesn't matter how famous you are, nobody is so humble that they won't complain about their $800 dollar shoes hurting, or waste a second of time without their martini. Emma's amazing.

After I watched this compilation, the 2014 Globes might've been the funniest they've ever been. Check out the VERY BLATANT Harvey Weinstein shade right to his face, too. Perfection.
