Nightmare Scenario: What If The Andy Dalton Signing Proves That Pace And Nagy Are Nowhere Near The Hot Seat

Do Pace and Nagy think they're doing a good job? Maybe it doesn't matter what they think because they've already convinced Ted Phillips and that nincompoop grandson of Papa Bear Halas that they are. Maybe all they had to do was sit down with the Bears brass at the end of the year and say that they've made the playoffs 2 out of 3 years, that they've never finished below .500, that they got fucked over by covid-19 in 2020 and still managed to make the playoffs, that this team is a QB away from the Super Bowl and that is the only real mistake that this Pace-Nagy tandem has ever made. Then if Dalton doesn't work they can just say "hey, we tried to get that true franchise QB. We think Sam Howell or whoever else is that guy" and round and round we go.

So they are LOUD with their leaks about their pursuit of a QB. Like incredibly loud. They were in on EVERYONE. Wentz, Watson, and Wilson. WWW.bullshit.com. Then when they couldn't pull it off they went out and got another QB who could be just average enough to preserve their jobs as they target a young QB of the future in the draft this year or next year or the year after that as the Bears continue to be a laughing stock across the NFL. That is the worst case scenario. I would agree with Eddie if I was sure that Phillips and McCaskey would make changes after this year. I am not. I think it is entirely possible that the Bears are right back where they started. Right back where they've always been. Wasting a very good defense because the organization can't get out of their own way. Time is a flat circle. The only thing I am sure of is that things won't get better.

The reason I wanted Jacoby Brissett is because I could be sold on some level of untapped potential for a younger QB who has played in similar systems and has been around great QBs and great coaches. We know exactly what Andy Dalton is at this point. A guy who has already played his best games. A guy who is just looking to squeeze out a few more paychecks. A guy who will NEVER be a difference maker in the NFL going forward. The Bears are stuck in Dante's outer ring of hell...hamster wheel with no hope of ever getting off. We suck and will continue to suck until the Bears wise up and sell the team to someone who can think
