Disney Released the Trailer for the New Mighty Ducks Series and It Looks Fantastic
When news first came out that the Mighty Ducks were going to be the "bad guys" in the new Disney+ series, I was very scared of how that story would play out and that it might ruin one of my favorite movie franchises. But now seeing the trailer and how that came about — they've been built into the youth hockey power that the Hawks were in the movies after decades of sustained success — it actually makes a lot of sense.
If Coach Bombay has to take another ragtag group of kids and build them into a team capable of bringing down the empire he helped build, then so be it. He's done it before. And I can already tell Lauren Graham is probably going to make me emotional at some point in this show. I'm a crier, sue me.
But on the whole, I really like the direction it seems they're going to take this show. I want to know why Gordon Bombay hates hockey again. I want to know more about the kid who says he has "more of a podcast body." I think he and I would get along well. But mostly, I just really want modern Mighty Ducks content. The last thing we got was D3 and it's virtually impossible for this to be worse than that, so the bar to clear isn't incredibly high.
Pretty much everything Disney+ has put out so far has been incredible, so I'm looking forward to that trend continuing with the Mighty Ducks. The quack attack is back, baby.
