I've spent a lot of time over the last week embracing and celebrating our community snow blowing specialists and rightfully so. The fellas on your street that gas up their machines for the whole block simply don't get enough credit. And quite frankly, I'm personally disappointed it's taken me until 2021 to pound/ring/sound the drum/bell/alarm on these guys. They deserve way more recognition from the public as they quietly fill our neighborhoods... lurking... hiding... waiting for the next accumulation to gas up the TORO and take it to the pavement.
On that end, credit to my guy here for sharing the spotlight and spitting some revolutionary truisms. It hasn't been easy since my attention perked up early last week upon encountering my neighbor Dave doing the Lord's Work. Since then I've been nearly-singularly focused on spreading his proverbial gospel.
The feedback and engagement on snow blowing for others has far surpassed any baseline expectation when I originally posed the question. I had no idea just about everyone knows a guy who is willing to go above and beyond in snow removal efforts. And while a lot of you might want to believe that's because they're Good People - the majority of experts chiming in have told me that the power of a good snow blower is inescapable. A lot of men can't stop once they get going, hence the willingness from a traditionally stubborn population of 40-60 year olds to perform free labor.
But even so, that doesn't diminish the service provided or more importantly, the collective Battle Cry of community slow blowers everywhere:

In a perfect world I picture dozens of middle-aged men in cities spread out across America secretly meeting on a regular basis to talk about how much they love blowing snow. It's here in these secret clubs that they indoctrinate themselves with principles of community, charity and humility.

Maybe I'm reaching (maybe not) but the core principle remain unchanged: a better, more-respected version of yourself lingers underneath the surface. And while a lot of people think that means more money or power, I'm really just talking about being a guy who isn't afraid to clear a path. Literally.
