The Red Band Trailer For The Upcoming Mortal Kombat Movie Just Dropped Complete With A Whole Bunch Of Blood, Fatalities, And Fucking Awesomeness
*extremely deep and haunting voice*
FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!
I blogged about the new Mortal Kombat movie a few weeks ago and was excited about it simply due to the R rating as well as the promise of senseless gore in the form of the fatalities that turned countless boys into men while playing their 16 bit video games.
ABACABB IYKYK
However after seeing that trailer, I think this Mortal Kombat movie may be...good? Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting to see it nominated for any Oscars, Golden Globes, or even an MTV Movie Award (if they still exist). But I also don't think they will get nominated for any Razzies either since it honestly looks like to be as true to the video game as it can be in movie form. Blood, a shitload of violence, and then more blood after someone gets killed via fatality. Truth be told as a long time Sub Zero guy, I was all in once I saw Sub Zero give Jax's arms his origin story and then Googled "What is HBO MAX and do I have it" after seeing him freeze blood into a dagger then stab Scorpion with it. That is the movie I was hoping for 25 years ago when Mortal Kombat ruled the world instead of this nonsense we ended up getting.
I'm pretty much in on any movie that doesn't make my rotted quarantined brain think to much and I believe Mortal Kombat fits that bill to a tee. Throw in a couple of nostalgic soundbites and casual murders following some hand-to-hand combat and I think we have ourselves a winner.
