Taylor Momsen And The Pretty Reckless Just Dropped One Of The Best Rock N Roll Albums Of The Year

First and foremost - I know there's a lot of you here on Barstool SPORTS who probably don't know who Taylor Momsen is, so let me quickly explain; remember Cindy Lou Who from the Jim Carrey 'Grinch' movie?

She's all grown up now, and after starring in Gossip Girl for a few years….

….Taylor has found her true calling as a singer/songwriter in The Pretty Reckless, a kickass modern rock n' roll band.

Personally, Taylor and The Pretty Reckless first hit my radar after their phenomenal cover of 'Champagne Supernova' (with a little 'Dear Prudence' intertwined in there) on BBC's Live Lounge….

If you have the guts to go into the UK and cover Oasis/The Beatles as an American who was too young to experience even Oasis' hay-day, and then nail it - you've got my respect for life.

There's always been a major Seattle grunge vibe to The Pretty Reckless' music - as Taylor has very publicly stated before that Chris Cornell was her idol and biggest inspiration ever (she even performed at his tribute show in 2019) - and this record they dropped on Friday, 'Death By Rock N Roll', takes that to a whole new level, enlisting the help of Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil and drummer Matt Cameron for a track….

….and even Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave legend Tom Morello on the lead single….

There's some big, powerful stuff that sounds fitting for a James Bond movie….

….and then there's some softer ballads (with hooks/melodies that'll still be stuck in your head 48-72 hours after hearing em), too….

So if you're into rock n' roll, give it a spin and let me know what you think! And if you don't wanna take my word for it, Rick Beato - possibly the best content creator on YouTube - broke down a couple of the songs/riffs in the video (as well as other modern rock hits), and I thought it made for a great watch….

P.S. 'Flowers for Vases / Descansos' by Hayley Williams and 'Medicine at Midnight' by the Foo Fighters are my other favorites of 2021 so far.
