Think He Misses DC? Bryce Harper Sadly Admits His Two Favorite Players Are Juan Soto And Trea Turner
Alternative title: "Does this look like the face of a man who highly regrets leaving Washington DC?" And the answer to that is yes, yes it does. That actually made me sad to watch. He sounds so depressed in it. Not your usual upbeat Bryce. Just a man who knows he has to do an entire 'nother year in Philly. Since arriving in the City of Brotherly Love, the Phillies have floundered around, going 81-81 his first year and 28-32 last year, while firing a manager and having their GM quit. And all he can think about is how much he'd rather still be in DC. Yikes.
You can't blame him though because on the other hand since losing Bryce, the Nats have won a World Series, still have some of the the richest owners in baseball, and have perennial MVP candidates in Juan Soto (22 years old) and Trea Turner (27) dominating the NL. Not to mention Carter Kieboom and Victor Robles, two of the top prospects in baseball. Oh and 3 guys named Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, and Patrick Corbin at the top of the rotation.
Does DC miss Bryce? Not really. He was fun to root for, obviously, but he turned his back on the city multiple times. Made it clear he didn't want DC to be his home. It kinda sucked because no athlete outside of Ovi had ever been embraced like that, and he was seemingly indifferent about it. You reap what you sow, I suppose. Enjoy going .500 again.
