A Bunch Of Bands And Musical Acts Came Out With A Sublime Cover Album And It Is FIRE

Whenever people ask me what kind of music I like, I often times describe my musical taste as "the biggest pothead you know" even though I don't even really smoke weed. I just don't like being high, but it's true though; I listen to all sorts of reggae-rock jam bands all the way from The Grateful Dead through Iration, Slightly Stupid, and G Love and Special Sauce, and people that smoke weed in amounts that would make Tommy Chong blush typically gravitate towards that music often.

Oh and the very first CD I ever owned was Sublime's self titled album. I can sing prolly 90% of Sublime songs verbatim and I would put Eric Wilson on my Mt. Rushmore of best bassists ever.

I don't know what the point of the first paragraph was really. I guess it was just to give a sort of lay of the land as far as my musical taste goes. I just really fucking love Sublime, even though they haven't released an album with the original band since the mid 90s. They're without question my favorite band of all time and there's not a close second for me.

So when I was told that a bunch of bands that Sublime paved the way for came out with a cover album for, I basically sprinted to Spotify to give it a listen. If this kind of music is up your alley, you should too because it is fucking FIRE:

Everyone knows the commercially successful Sublime songs like Santeria, What I got, Wrong Way, and maybe a few others, but check out "New Realization" and Ebin. Remember when I said that I'd put Eric Wilson on my Mt. Rushmore of best bassists ever? It's because of his bass line in Ebin. Check out this video:

Dude fucking kills that bass line and that's coming from someone who's never touched a bass guitar in his life, so I would know.

Shane Hall's cover of 'Under My Voodoo' is also great. I'm not joking when I say this: I will listen to this album non-stop for a solid 6 months straight. It's that good. Just awesome musical act after awesome musical act putting their spin on an awesome musical act of the 1990s.

Also - I started a music podcast with the band Foxtrot and the Get Down called "On The Guest List" where we bullshit anything and everything music. We also have guests every week and for our first episode we swung for the fence and landed Chris Shifflet. He's the lead guitarist for the band The Foo Fighters. You may have heard of them, but probably not. They don't sell out stadiums or anything like that, more of an indie band. They're dropping a new album titled "Medicine at Midnight" that drops in the next week or so that just might be a huge hit.

Anyways, check out our interview with him:

Rate the show 5 stars for us and leave us a review saying "WSD can play the guitar better than Stevie Ray Vaughn" in the comments.
