Happy Anniversary To The Greatest Call In Basketball History And The Moment Bill Raftery Became A Legend

So I couldn’t let this day go without blogging about this. Bill Raftery is my favorite human alive and 33 years ago today he had one of the most famous lines in college basketball history.

It's the greatest call in basketball history. So simple, so elegant, so perfect. Send it in Jerome. It also is the moment that Raft became a star. Think about it, that call 33 years later, everyone still knows it. Shit, everyone still says it. If you're a college hoops fan and see a dunk - doesn't even have to be a basketball dunk - you immediately drop a send it in. It’s absolutely perfect. From the Sean Miller steal and assist to the glass shattering to the screaming and then of course to the line. Send it in, Jerome. It’s so simple and so perfect. It’s one of those calls that everyone that watches college basketball knows and part of what makes Raft so great.

There's no one more I want to have a drink with than Raft. He's simply my favorite human in the world, even more than my own mother and my own kid. Never forget he doesn't want Twitter because he's scared of what he'll say at 1am

Need the man on Twitter letting tweets fly when drinking some vodka. I imagine he'd be the funniest person on the site, just dropping his quotes while subtly roasting people. You know it's a big game when Raft is on the call. He just has that voice that lets you know you're in for something great. Think about all his individual calls, some of my favorites:

- A little lingerie on the deck

- He's got the puppies set off the bus

- Man-to-man

- With a kiss off the glass

- Ohhh we got a nickel dimer out there

- Onions

- Onions, double order!

And my personal favorite as Tayshun Prince was going 5-for-5 against UNC

- Why do lefties look so pretty?

My one goal in life is to have a drink with Raft and talk hoops. There's no one I want to interview more than him and then hang out with him. An absolute legend and the best guy in college hoops.
