Zach Thomas And Daunte Culpepper Apparently Tried To Fight Nick Saban When He Was The Dolphins Head Coach

[TMZ] - "Nick Saban, the reason why he didn't make it in the NFL, Daunte Culpepper tried to fight him one day and the security guy stepped in," Glazer said.

"And then I think his final straw is that he questioned Zach Thomas' toughness and Zach almost kicked his butt. That just doesn't work on this level."

How the hell is this the first time I've heard of this? Nick Saban's tenure with the Dolphins just got even weirder and Alabama should be even more thankful. Think about it, if he doesn't get threatened with violence, not once but twice, does he immediately leave for Bama? There was a reason he took an NFL job. Then again, Saban was apparently a lunatic with the Dolphins.

I'm a Saban guy. It's sort of by rule since every time the Giants have a coaching job open he's linked to it. I've talked myself into that Saban would work in the NFL with the Giants numerous times. Talked myself into him just recruiting all the Alabama players to play for him at the Giants and get an awesome quarterback to play with him when Eli decided to retire. Needless to say, that didn't work out.

Speaking of not working out - Daunte Culpepper. Let me be more specific, the Dolphins version of Culpepper. The Vikings version? He was one of the coolest quarterbacks of our generation. Him and Randy Moss were the dream of kids everywhere playing in the backyard. Also if you didn't breakout the everybody get your roll on celly, you didn't play backyard quarterback right.

But then Miami Culpepper? Shit, he's probably best known as the guy Saban and the Dolphins decided to take instead of Drew Brees because of medical concerns. Whoops! He was released after just one year with the Dolphins after being the guy who was supposed to be there. And not only that, he was just one of two guys who tried to fight Saban. Hilarious looking back on it, especially now with what we think of Saban being the greatest college coach ever and this complete hardass.

Then there's Zach Thomas. That dude was arguably the face of the franchise. Anyone my age remembers the Dolphins defense and specifically the Thomas teal jersey. Him and Jason Taylor as that 1-2 on the defense was awesome. Also when the Dolphins had arguably the best jerseys in the sport.

The definition of a linebacker. Now I may be a gigantic pussy and not Nick Saban, but I'd prefer to stay on Thomas' side. That's just me though. All I know is Alabama should be thanking the Dolphins for jumpstarting the dynasty. It's still weird to think of Saban as the Dolphins head coach. I know he was at Michigan State and LSU, but the Dolphins stint is 100% the weirdest. It's like seeing Hakeem in the Raptors jersey vs Ewing in the Magic jersey

I need a Saban response here more than anything in the world.
