That mystery woman is named Candis Cayne. Here’s what you need to know about Jenner’s new bestie. Cayne was the first transgender woman to play a transgender character on network television. That opportunity came in 2007 opposite William Baldwin in the ABC drama “Dirty Sexy Money.” Cayne played Carmelita Rainer, a trans woman having an affair with Patrick Darling (Baldwin), who was also running for US Senate. Cayne’s role lasted 11 episodes. Cayne moved to New York from Hawaii in the early ’90s and made a career performing in drag attire at nightclubs. She told the New York Times in a 2004 profile that although she’s a trained dancer, she knows her limitations. “You can’t do a split leap in four-inch heels,” she quipped. “You learn throughout the years to utilize the best movements for the best wow factor.” Cayne’s acting credits, which have largely gone unnoticed by the mainstream, range from dramas and comedies to reality TV in recent years. Her resume includes “To Wong Fu,” “Wigstock” and “Starrbooty,” and the FX hit show “Nip/Tuck.”
